Instead of a Baton Pass team that often lost due to critical hit luck, I built a singles team centered around Iron Defense + Body Press Mega Metagross, recommended by an acquaintance. I used two main plans depending on the opponent: either engaging in a face-to-face battle with Metagross, Greninja, Garchomp, and Mimikyu, or paralyzing contact move users with Bellibolt to disrupt them, then finishing them off with a follow-up. My highest rating was 2563, and I finished 16th with 2546.[Key Pokémon Points]Metagross: Post-Mega stats 181-171-173-x-131-176. With 1 HP EV, it definitively withstands Mimikyu's Life Orb + Disguise damage, including Bullet Punch. With 2 HP EVs, it definitively survives two hits from Garchomp's fang moves and outspeeds Timid Meowscarada. The original plan was 187-171-189-x-131-155, but due to the team's overall slow speed, I reallocated EVs to HP/Speed to outspeed Max Speed Garchomp and Timid Meowscarada. With Iron Defense + Body Press, it could even counter traditionally favorable matchups like Scizor and Mega Gyarados.Greninja: Originally a Toxic + Synchronize Umbreon, but on the final day at 5 AM, I switched to Protean + Focus Sash to strengthen its response against Delphox, Archaludon, Garchomp, and Primarina. Dark Pulse was a fixed choice, and non-STAB Water Shuriken was also adopted as a priority move. I included Icy Wind to counter Gyarados, which also proved effective against Scale Shot Garchomp and Charizard Y.Garchomp: Changed from a Focus Sash + Stealth Rock set to a Lum Berry + Swords Dance set, increasing its cycle breaking power and providing a route to deal with Hippowdon. The inclusion of Stone Edge is debatable, but I kept it as I didn't want to lose a reliable way to hit Charizard.Dragonite: EV spread HP 17, Sp. Atk 17, Speed 32. Timid nature to outspeed Max Speed Kilowattrel, and Flamethrower can one-shot HP-invested Meowscarada with the lowest probability excluded. Haze resets its own Draco Meteor Sp. Atk drop while also being highly effective against slow stacking Pokémon like Aegislash, Gholdengo, and Kingambit, as well as Baton Pass teams.Bellibolt: A 1% usage original sniper pick. It replaces the role Thunder used to play, paralyzing contact move users with Static. Its physical defense is higher than Thunder's, and it takes neutral damage from Stealth Rock. The combination of Water Spout + Toxic + Slack Off smoothly handled Hippowdon matchups.Mimikyu: Adamant nature, Attack/Speed EVs, Life Orb. Shadow Sneak to critically hit Mega Delphox and Gengar. [Basic Lead and Strategy]The team is divided into a face-to-face lead centered around Metagross, Greninja, Garchomp, and Mimikyu, and a cycle lead centered around Bellibolt. Against opponents with Hippowdon, at least one of Bellibolt or Garchomp is always sent out. If one of the stacking attackers seemed effective, I would push with it. If not, I would decide the lead by spreading poison with Bellibolt or stopping Baton Pass/stacks with Mega Dragonite.[Opponents to Watch Out For]Mega Delphox (struggled due to lack of stable switch-ins, alleviated after Greninja's inclusion), Whimsicott (difficulty dealing with Leech Seed), Clefable (Unaware ability nullifies status conditions, cause of final match loss), Scarf Hydreigon (increased burden after removing Umbreon).
